DOING WHAT'S RIGHT

There are a lot of issues facing North Idaho. Below is a brief summary of my positions on a few top priorities. I would love to connect with you and discuss these and more.

I firmly believe that respectful, truth-focused dialogue is one of the most important things we can do to combat the division so common in politics these days.

EDUCATION

Education is the first step in preparing our community to face the challenges ahead. Parents should be able to access multiple avenues of choice in educating their children - whether it be home-school, public school, charter school, or private school - to ensure that their children are prepared to face the challenges of life ahead.

TAXES & GOVERNMENT

An efficient government is necessary for a safe, secure & properly functioning society as well as to ensure the people’s God-given right to life, liberty, & the pursuit of happiness. Idaho is growing fast, yet essential services like police, fire and schools have not seen the consummate level of support necessary. We must reduce or eliminate inefficient, wasteful programs so that essential functions of government can get what they need to achieve their mission.

ECONOMY

Idaho needs to become a leader in innovation, infrastructure, and small-scale agro-industries. This can be accomplished through smart policies (like reducing unnecessary restrictions) that encourage and foster growth while allowing the free market to do what it does best. The goal is to make Idaho self-sufficient and successful.

SERVICE

For God. For Others. For Country.

My life-long love for the State of Idaho was built through experiences such as learning to fish in the high mountain streams near Stanley, studying Wildlife Management at the University of Idaho, and performing research and land management activities for the Idaho Fish and Game.

I started my life of service started in the Boy Scouts achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, and continued in the mission field in Africa, the Middle and Far-East. Following 9/11, I became an Army Chaplain and for over ten years served the spiritual needs of Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen, including 39 months of deployed time to combat zones in Iraq and Afghanistan, and a 9-month tour on the DMZ in Korea.

When we left the Army in 2019, my wife, Heather, and I returned home to Idaho with our four children and made Sandpoint our home.

As a family, we continue our life of service here in Idaho and we strive to be a genuine part of the community. We volunteer in our local church, coach soccer teams, help out with Boy Scouts and 4-H, and assist with programs at our kids’ schools.

I’m honored to be able to support my wife Heather’s efforts as the Programs Director of a local non-profit early childhood literacy program which equips parents to help their children learn to read and be a crucial part of their children’s education. I loved serving in my role as community pastor, using the gifts, talents, and abilities God has given me to serve our congregation as they seek to live out their faith.

I look forward to continuing to serve this community that we love as your representative in the Idaho House for District 1-B.
